Junior Data Analyst
This position will be required to interact (directly or indirectly) with infrastructure technical SME's such as Network Admins, Server Admins, Security Admins, Cloud Engineers, Cloud Architects, Enterprise Architects as well as Application or Business owners to identify infrastructure and application related data points which will need to be gathered electronically or manually as needed.
The Junior Data Analyst role plays a key role during various types of engagements often include Migration and Transformation, Placement or Optimization projects. Additionally, the Analyst will work with Cloud Strategists, Cloud Architects, Migration Architects and Lead Business Analysts to understand technical and contextual data requirements and translate them into specifications for data collection and data modeling
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Work with process owners to understand the requirements related to the capture of configuration data and develop technical specifications and solutions
· Work with systems administrators to ensure that the Discovery tools have the appropriate access and permissions to capture configuration information
· Provide visibility to the performance and issues related to Discovery
· Collaborate with Engagement Leads to understand the strategy that guides which requirements need to be gathered
· Work with Application SMEs to create and validate Service Maps for key applications
· Perform day to day administration of the Discovery tool, including mapping additional defined business services into the tool
· Review the data being captured and provide status reports to the Engagement Lead
Qualifications:
Required:
· Minimum of 2+ years working on a team as part of a large IT or Consulting organization
· Experience with WMI, SSH, SNMP, PowerShell, REST, SOAP, and JavaScript
· Experience working with LDAP, Active Directory, and SUDO a plus
· Experience with a converged platform a plus
· Strong written and verbal communication
· Good interpersonal skills, including collaboration, communication, relationship building, and negotiation
· Proficient with Microsoft Office tools; Excel, PowerPoint, Word
· Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
· Intermediate Windows and Unix administration skills
· Familiarity with network concepts (routers, switches, firewalls, NAT, load balancing)
· Familiarity with cloud solutions and providers
· Ability to discuss credentials, install a product, troubleshoot permission issues, trouble shoot network connectivity with network engineers
Preferred:
Acquaintance with Web and Application Servers, Load Balancers, Databases, and Virtualization (WebSphere, MQ, IIS, Apache, VMware)
Acquaintance with one or more cloud provider, key services, and navigation of the provider's console
Familiarity with industry standard infrastructure and applications discovery and analysis tools
